Daniel A. Shapiro is a tax partner with over 35 years of experience in public accounting. He advises high net worth individuals and families and closely held businesses of all types and sizes, particularly organizations in the real estate sector, with techniques to minimize income taxes and preserve, grow, and transfer their wealth. Dan has particular expertise in real estate, partnership and individual income taxation, coupled with wide experience in estate planning, financial accounting, and auditing.

He counsels clients in areas that include the acquisition, sale, refinancing, recapitalization and restructuring of real estate and other business assets and entities, taxation of various types of business organizations, and the implications of financing and debt workouts. Dan helps his clients with succession planning for business transitions, and tax-effective programs to transfer wealth using family limited partnerships, trusts, and other strategies.

Prior to joining Citrin Cooperman, Dan was a tax partner, member of the executive committee and leader of the tax department at Berdon, LLP, which joined the firm in 2023.
