EXPERIENCE

Darshan is a managing director in Citrin Cooperman’s Global Private Client and Family Office Services Practice. He has over 10 years of experience helping high-net-worth families and their associated enterprises, trustees and other fiduciaries, and family offices on a wide range of domestic and cross border tax, structuring and governance matters.

Darshan provides holistic advice to clients, merging tax optimization with clients’ entrepreneurial and philanthropic endeavors, with a view towards long-term succession planning. Darshan routinely helps individuals and privately held enterprises on U.S. pre-immigration and expatriation planning, inbound U.S. investment structuring (including the purchase and sale of U.S. real property), and optimizing U.S. and foreign holding structures. He counsels families, family offices, trustees, and other fiduciaries on the creation and operation of multi-jurisdictional business and personal asset holding structures and has a particular focus on U.S. and foreign trust planning, and global estate administration. Darshan also has experience working with clients on a wide range of cross-border tax and non-tax reporting issues and has represented clients before the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) in tax compliance and controversy matters.

Prior to Citrin Cooperman, Darshan worked at an accounting firm and multiple law firms in Washington DC, New York, and London. He also spent several years in government at the IRS Office of Chief Counsel.
