Joel A. Cooperman was the co-founder and former Executive Chairman of Citrin Cooperman. Joel guided the firm since its inception in 1979 and was the CEO for over 40 years, helping to position Citrin Cooperman among the nation’s Top 20 accounting, tax, and business advisory firms.

Joel is one of the industry’s foremost professionals in business consulting, working closely with clients in the areas of mergers, acquisitions, expansion, profitability enhancement, strategic planning, and financing. With extensive expertise in steering companies through all stages of growth, Joel’s clients have come to rely on him for his candor and his help in overcoming operational and financial challenges.

Joel brought this same leadership to Citrin Cooperman, overseeing the firm’s significant growth, including completing deals with over 65 CPA and consulting firms, hiring a multitude of talented lateral partners, and helping the firm achieve both organic and non-organic growth in revenue and profits each year of its existence. Today, the firm employs over 3,500 people in 26 locations in the U.S. on both coasts. The firm also maintains affiliates in the Cayman Islands and India.
