Experience

Mark is a managing director in Citrin Cooperman’s Commercial Tax Services Practice. He provides strategic tax and business planning, acquisition due diligence, succession planning, personal financial planning, and practice management consulting services to veterinary and dental practice owners across the United States.

Mark leverages over 30 years of business experience to provide practitioners with a clear understanding of complex business and management topics. He also has extensive insight on the healthcare sector from 12 years in emergency medical services (EMS), including five years working as a 911 paramedic for Worcester EMS and related work at the UMass Medical School and teaching hospital.

Mark takes a collaborative, hands-on approach to financial planning and tax strategy. He is dedicated to helping veterinarians and dentists make informed decisions about their businesses, from optimizing tax strategies to planning for practice transitions and retirement. His ability to simplify complex financial concepts ensures clients feel confident in their decisions.

Previously, Mark was a partner at LitmanGerson Associates, LLP (LGA), which joined Citrin Cooperman in 2026.

Mark sits on the Board of Directors as Treasurer for The Veterinary Cooperative, a group purchasing organization supporting 4,000 U.S. veterinary hospitals.

Mark also served on the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Examination Council for a three-year term, setting policy, testing methodology, and selecting questions for the U.S. CFP® examination.

Presentations & Publications

Mark has spoken for industry vendors as a national thought leader and at national, regional, and local veterinary and dental conferences. He has also spoken to Harvard University, Auburn University, Boston University, and Tufts University dental and veterinary students.

Mark is the contributing finance editor for Wiley Blackwell’s 5-Minute Veterinary Practice Management Consult, 1st-4th editions, and Pet-Specific Care, 1st edition. He co-wrote the “Certified Veterinary Business Leader” finance credential curriculum for the North American Veterinary Conference.

Additionally, Mark is a co-host of the highly-rated veterinary industry podcast “The Veterinary Survival Show.”

Outside the Office

Outside of work, Mark enjoys playing drums in an 80s cover band, hanging out with his Newfoundland, Grizz, and traveling to national parks and warm destinations with his wife, Kathy.
